I found my spot

A frequent topic of conversation around here when we are dreaming of actually making some money is where we might live. I recently took a little test on FindYourSpot.com which tells you the top places you should live based on your preferences. I found it really entertaining that MOAB UT was #1 on my list since that was a traditional vacation spot for us while growing up. Also on the list was St. George (which is my #1 choice of places to live), Wallawalla washington (anoher 7th day adventist community-- hmmmmmm), and lots of little towns in arizona that I need to look up. How does a person decide where to spend the rest of their life?

Nothing better to blog about

Since absolutely nothing around here is happening, I have nothing better to blog about than my cute little Lydia walking (with a walker). Thanks craigslist. 10 months is a fun age.

Nelsons in high fashion

This blog is dedicated to fashion. Since Kiera is the most fashion-consious person in the family, we'll start with her. In Kiera's world you are beautiful if you have a pair of "pretty yadie shoes" on. It mattereth not what else you may (or may not) be wearing...nor the style of your hair. Just get yourself some "pretty yadie shoes" and you'll be hot stuff.

Steve's fashion lately has consisted a lot of wearing blue scrubs. I've been joining him lately since I'm doing my LAST set of nursing clinicals (I'll be sooooo GLAD to be done being nursing scum soon....but that's another blog....). I have to say that wearing scrubs makes me feel like I'm wearing pajamas. I'm glad I don't have to do it much anymore. Oh, and I love how the lighting in these pictures make it looks like we are burn victims.

This is Lydia's outfit from last sunday. I finished shoveling peaches in her mouth and instructed Steve to get her dressed and put her in the car seat while I went off to handle Kiera. When we arrived at church and I went to pull her out of the car seat I discovered her in this (what some may say to be a Christmas) dress on backwards and her hands/face/hair still covered in peaches. The funny thing about it is that I remember Steve bringing Kiera to visit me in the hospital wearing the same dress....backwards. I guess that is what I get for marrying a male : )

Half Marathon

Today I ran my 2nd half marthon. I have to say that I have a lot of respect for all you people who do full marathons (tons of my friends and family have done at least 1 marathon). Maybe I'll join you in the marathon ranks someday...but not yet. I ran the Fontana half and my time (for anybody who cares) was 1 hr and 47 mins which was a full half hour less than my time on my last one-- it probably helped that it was downhill.

Finally done!! Jello legs!!

Lightening strikes a little too close to home

2 days ago there were random little thunderstorms all day long, so I didn't think twice about having my 2 daugters swing in the tree swings in our backyard. However, while they were both swinging in the large tree, lightening struck this palm tree that was about 6 houses down from us. The flames on the tree were visible from the backyard. Talk about scary!!! A lady in a neighboring city to us (Fontana) died from standing under a tree that was stuck by lightening that very afternoon.
A little too close for comfort!

What a difference a year makes....

One year ago today I had a feeding tube removed from my small intestines.
In contrast: I'm running a half marathon this saturday. The human body is an amazing thing. I'm lucky mine is so resillient.
