Kiera meets Lydia

Here is our little video of Kiera meeting Lydia. Kiera seems huge compared to Lydia-- I no longer think of her as a baby anymore.

Labor and delivery was a positive experience after my epidural started working--- (the resident who put it in didn't do so well). Lydia has chunky little kissable cheeks and I don't recognize any features as looking like mine or Steve's other than the dark hair being mine. She is a great baby so far-- had a little trouble learning how to eat, but I think we are ok now. I figured I'd already served enough time in the Loma Linda hospital, so I requested that they discharge me earlier than they wanted to (I value my sleep!). It's good to be home. I guess you'll all be able to tell how well I'm handling being a mommy of 2 by the amount of blogging that I do.

Laundry Poll Question

I'm looking at this poll question that Cambrie posted about washing your sheets. Either you guys wash your bedsheets excessively way to much or it's a good thing your husbands aren't in charge of laundry. I could probably count on four fingers how many times a year I would wash my sheets when I was a bachelor, which at that time I even felt was too much if I compared that number to how many times my roommates washed theirs.
Oh and the guy that made this tag about laundry being a woman's job is probably now single

999 days left of dental school!!!!

(don't worry, it wasn't me who took the time to count it out.... somebody in Steve's class did). Well, at least we are down to triple digits. I won't be a dental school widow forever.

My good little girl

I've never really tried to take a nap while Kiera was awake-- I'm a mother and therefore I always wonder what she's doing and can't sleep. I guess I was super tired today though because I fell asleep on the couch at 9am and woke up 45 minutes later. All was quiet and Kiera was not in sight and I was sure I'd find her either hurt or playing in the toilet. I was wrong though; my sweet little Kiera had parked herself behind the recliner with her blankie and was holding it sucking on her tongue (which is what she does when she tries to go to sleep). I guess she decided it was time to sleep since mommy was sleeping.
Then, after her lunch I let her down from her highchair and asked her if she wanted to go "night-night". I didn't expect more than a yes or no and I kept eating my lunch until I heard and door shut. I wondered if she had trapped herself in one the the rooms and waited to see if I would hear the pounding on the door that comes soon thereafter. I heard nothing and Kiera did not appear so I got up to investigate. After asking her if she wanted to go "night-night" she had walked down the hall into her room, shut the door, and was laying on the floor next to her crib with her blankie. Wow!

3 and soon to be 4...

So what is the Nelson's latest and greatest news anyway? Well, it's that this pregnany is coming to an end and we are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our second little Nelson. These pictures are the "Before" pictures...... hopefully we'll be able to post the "after" pictures soon.......

Last week I set up our bassinet in preparation for our new arrival. I told Kiera as I was putting it together that it was a bed for babies and when I was finished she was so excited about it. She did her sign-language for the word sleep, got her blankie, and wanted me to put her in it. I thought she'd be done after 10 seconds, but no-- she played in the bassinet for about 2 hours that day and still wants me to to put her in it for 10 minutes at a time 4 days later. She loves it. I hope that she is ok with the new baby taking over her new favorite toy in a few weeks.

Last friday there was a dental school shin-dig. They really went all out and got tons of bounce-houses, kiddie pools and inflatable water slides. It was a child-heaven. Guess what Kiera's favorite thing about the event was..... the stairs on an adjacent building. I'll bet that if we took Kiera to Disneyland she'd be more excited about the stairs than anything else.
